Public Information Officer
Annual salary starting at $42,000
SUMMARY:
Highly responsible position with varied and complex duties involving development of quarterly newsletter and various publications, relationships with stakeholders for public outreach opportunities and maintenance of website and social media platforms in order to inform the public and stakeholders of FBPE mission and vision. Independent work is performed with little supervision. This position reports to the Executive Director. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible to receive payment for overtime.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are representative of those that the employee will typically perform as a function of this job but are not limited to these specific duties:
Newsletter and Publications
- Development, design and production of all FEMC/FBPE publications/informational material including newsletters, quarterly and annual reports, brochures, presentations, announcements, signage, manuals, etc.
- Distribution of organization publications/communications in both print and electronic media.
- Budgeting, obtaining bid estimates and maintaining inventory for supplies and printing of FEMC/FBPE materials and takeaways.
Website
- Regular maintenance of FBPE website to include updates on current news and information, procedures, events, etc. and responding to website inquiries.
- Maintain organization social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) with new content.
- Development, promotion and maintenance of FBPE mobile application and distributing push notifications.
- Reviewing statistical data from technology sources (website, mobile app, social media, etc.) and reporting on latest trends to recommend enhancements and modifications.
- Budgeting and obtaining bid estimates from vendors regarding technology services as it relates to website maintenance, hosting services and upgrades, design changes, and mobile app.
- Serve on IT Committee to assist with budget development, address technology issues and training as needed.
Public Outreach
- Establish relationships with engineering associations and societies, college and university officials, and other regulatory boards and industry officials in order to promote professional licensure in the state of Florida.
- Coordinate staff and board member participation in engineering and STEM related activities (i.e., student competition conferences, expos, Mathcounts, science and engineering fairs).
- Research new opportunities to engage public and engineering community in an effort to promote the engineering profession (i.e., webinar development, presentations, and training).
- Maintain up-to-date contact and event tracking database.
- Identify and coordinate outreach opportunities in which FBPE can promote professional licensure (i.e., career fairs, presentations, and lectures).
- Budgeting, obtaining bid estimates from vendors and maintaining inventory for outreach promotional items.
TASKS & DELIVERABLES:
- Produce and distribute FBPE Connections newsletter on a quarterly basis.
- Design FEMC/FBPE quarterly and annual report covers and inserts.
- Report annual FBPE communications statistics.
- Report monthly marketing/communication costs associated with unlicensed activity.
- Submit a proposed budget for marketing/communications costs for FY.
- Develop and distribute printed and electronic mass communications for biennial licensure renewal. (This includes email marketing campaigns, letter/postcard mailings and presentations).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The following education and experience requirements are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Must have Associates degree (AA, AS) from two-year college or university in a field relevant to the area of expertise. Bachelor’s degree(BA, BS) in communications or public relations preferred.
- Must have two (2) years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
